BTOB's Sungjae, Cosmic Girls' Bona (Kim Jiyeon), and Kim Ji Hoon have been cast in the new SBS drama 'Gwigoong', set to air some time in 2025.
The historical fantasy romance drama, set in the Joseon period, follows the story of a shaman girl named Yeo Ri, a palace official named Yoon Gap, and an imoogi (a snake that fails to ascend to heaven as a dragon) named Kang Chul.
First, BTOB's Sungjae has been cast as Yoon Gap, a young official who is determined to restore order in the palace after an evil spirit wreaks havoc. However, when an imoogi's attempt to use a shaman girl's body to ascend to heaven backfires, Yoon Gap's body is instead possessed by the spirit of the imoogi.
Next, Bona takes on the role of Yeo Ri, the daughter of a renowned shaman with a deep connection to the spiritual world. When she learns that an imoogi has possessed her first love, Yoon Gap, she sets out to rescue him.
Finally, Kim Ji Hoon will play the role of Yi Seong, the emperor of Joseon. In order to overcome the terrors that have overrun his palace, he seeks out the help of a young official and a shaman girl.
'Gwigoong' starring Yook Sungjae, Kim Jiyeon, and Kim Ji Hoon will air on SBS in 2025. Do you find the premise interesting so far?
