British band Shakatak is facing backlash online after accusing NewJeans' "Bubble Gum" of plagiarizing their 1981 hit "Easier Said Than Done."
Just a day before, an exclusive media report revealed that representatives of the English jazz-funk band Shakatak have accused ADOR of copyright infringement in NewJeans' song "Bubble Gum." However, ADOR's Min Hee Jin had denied the accusations and demanded that they "submit a credible analysis report." On July 19th, the band announced that their publishing company Wise Music Group is on the case and has employed a musicologist to take this further.
Following their announcements, the group faced much backlash online.
Regarding this, Korean netizens reacted:
"They are acting like BTS fans."
"Well I heard this composer provided samplings to others? Why single out NewJeans?"
"Sending hate to the original composer is crazy work."
"Who is the real trash here lol"
"lol 'young girls' Stop playing victims smh."
"I've never seen a fandom creating enemies domestically and internationally."
