NewJeans’ recent Japanese debut single ‘Supernatural’ has now rocketed to the top of multiple music charts in Japan, signaling NewJeans’ successful Japanese debut.
Released on June 20, ‘Supernatural’ immediately debuted at the top of Japan’s Oricon music chart and Line Music’s top 100, and has maintained its position at #1 ever since.
NewJeans is now at #3 on Japan’s Top Artists chart, making them the highest ranked foreign artist on the chart. Their other songs ‘How Sweet,’ ‘Right Now,’ ‘OMG,’ ‘Ditto,’ and ‘Bubblegum’ are also currently doing well on Japan’s music charts.
‘Supernatural’ is also achieving success on domestic charts, along with its counterpart ‘Right Now.’ Both songs are ranking well on the Korean music charts Melon, Genie, Bugs, and Vibe. ‘Supernatural’ is also maintaining its spot at the top of Apple Music’s Top 100 in both Korea and Japan.
An official statement from ADOR attributed Supernatural’s success to NewJeans’ unique musical identity: “It is uncommon for Japanese singles to rank high on domestic music charts. This is thanks to the natural vibe that NewJeans gives off through its music that transcends languages."
