In April of 2024, South Korea’s beloved giant panda Fu Bao was transferred to a panda conservation center in China, leaving many fans devastated. Over the past 2 months, some Korean fans have brought forward allegations that Fu Bao has suffered mistreatment at the China conservation center. The fans cited examples like strange marks on Fu Bao’s fur and hair loss in certain areas.

In response, the conservation center explained that some amount of fur loss is normal for pandas as the seasons change. The center also posted video evidence of Fu Bao engaging in various activities in her new environment:

Many fans were happy to see Fu Bao's good condition, while others felt she should be returned to Korea for her health:

"Our baby is doing well...she eats bamboo well and is so pretty"

"She's so smart but she looks too skinny...Since she's already in a cage she should just come back to Korea right away"

"Now she should get on a plane and come to Incheon"

"Not only is she smart, she's also so sweet and unguarded"

"Fu Bao is good at everything. I hope she's available for the public to visit soon"

"She looks lonely and the place is in poor condition"

"I hope she will be returned to Korea soon"
