Mnet has announced a major overhaul for the show ‘Road to Kingdom,’ with plans to launch the revamped version in the second half of the year.
‘Road to Kingdom,’ which first aired in 2020, is a competitive program featuring K-pop boy groups showcasing their talents in intense head-to-head battles. The show highlighted several skilled boy groups, including the winning team, The Boyz, as well as ONF, and Pentagon, among others.
Buoyed by its success, ‘Road to Kingdom’ is set for significant rebranding, aiming to establish itself as a standalone brand. The new version will focus on re-evaluating boy groups with strong skills and potential. It is part of Mnet’s exclusive ‘K-pop Boy Group Rising Project.’
The revamped show will feature a refreshed format. Approximately four years after the original series, the new ‘Road to Kingdom’ will air with and updated structure. It will not only emphasize intense competitions but also enhance the reality elements to fully showcase the hidden charms of the participants. Additionally, the traditional winning perks linked to subsequent show appearances will undergo changes.
The new season of ‘Road to Kingdom’ will be directed by Mnet’s Jo Woori PD. Jo Woori previously gained attention for directing the legendary stages of ‘Queendom’ in 2019, which revealed the hidden strengths and attractions of girl groups. There is considerable anticipation to see if Jo Woori and the original ‘Queendom’ production team can unearth new gems in the rebranded ‘Road to Kingdom.’
