Lee Jung-jae, who entered the Star Wars universe with the Disney+ (Plus) drama 'Acolyte', revealed the behind-the-scenes details of filming.
Actor Lee Jung-jae appeared as a guest in Sung Si-kyung's YouTube channel. When Sung Si-kyung asked, "How long was the filming period for Acolyte?" Lee Jung-jae said, "There are a total of 8 episodes, and we filmed them over 8 months." He added, "I went two months ahead of the filming period to practice martial arts and study English because there were so many English lines.” he answered.
When Sung Si-kyung praised him and said, "I only saw the trailer, my English was really good," Lee Jung-jae said, "I'm so embarrassed," and showed humility, "I'm not that good at English."
When Seong Si-kyung then asked, “How much did you practice?” Lee Jung-jae said, “There were four dialogue coaches, and we took turns practicing (together) every day.”
He said, "They don't talk much about emotions. They talk a lot about diction (pronunciation), and when it comes to emotions, they say, 'You are an actor, so talk to the director about whether that emotion is right or not.'" .
Regarding how much he practiced his English lines, Lee Jeong-jae said, "As I continued to correct my pronunciation, read in pauses, and flow (with coaches), both sides of my tongue were worn out, so I had a hard time eating. Even if I was sleeping, I had to mutter when I opened my eyes." He said this, surprising Seong Si-kyung.
When Sung Si-kyung admired Lee Jung-jae's efforts and asked, "This is why nothing is free, didn't you hear (from the production crew) that you're too good?" Lee Jung-jae responded, "The director and staff all said they liked it, but what's more important is that the audience“, showing his nervousness.
Meanwhile, 'Acolyte' is a mystery action thriller that tells the story of an unprecedented Jedi serial murder case taking place in an era called the golden age of the Jedi Knights protecting peace, and the story of a newly emerging dark force within the secrets and truths hidden behind it.
Lee Jung-jae is expected to show various aspects of his character by playing the role of 'Master Sol', who pursues a serial murder case.
Disney+ will release episodes 1 and 2 of Acolyte simultaneously globally on the 5th.
