The production team of tvN's weekend drama 'The Midnight Romance in Hagwon' issued an apology on May 21 KST following backlash over a scene featuring Jung Ryeo Won's character, Seo Hye Jin, engaging in drunk driving.
In their statement, the production team acknowledged the issue and promptly removed the scene from VOD services and subsequent broadcasts. Expressing regret for any inconvenience caused, they pledged to prioritize the creation of high-quality content in the future.
The controversial scene depicted Seo Hye Jin drinking alcohol before driving with Lee Jun Ho, portrayed by Wi Ha Joon. Viewers raised concerns about the portrayal of drunk driving, prompting the production team to take swift action.
'The Midnight Romance in Hagwon' revolves around the captivating romance between star instructor Seo Hye Jin and her mischievous former student Lee Jun Ho. The drama airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 PM.

Like I get it why people were uncomfortable but I kind of feel like people don't know what fiction is anymore. There is something called viewer's discretion. There is also something called TV age ratings... Like if you copy what you see on a fictional TV show... it says more about you than the media you are consuming.
