'The Round Up: Punishment' (directed by Huh Myungheng) has officially surpassed 10 million viewers, marking a significant achievement in the South Korean film industry.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated cinema ticketing network, as of 7:30 AM on May 15, the film has attracted 10,016,610 viewers. This milestone makes it the first Korean series to reach triple ten-million viewer status and the 24th Korean film overall to do so. Including foreign films, it ranks as the 33rd film to achieve this status.
Breaking the box office records set by its predecessor, "The Round Up: Punishment" set a new record by reaching 10 million viewers in just 22 days—three days quicker than previous season in 2022.
Ma Dong-seok, the star of the film, has now featured in six ten-million viewer films, including "Train to Busan," "Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds," "Along With the Gods: The Last 49 Days," "The Outlaws 2," and "The Outlaws 3."
"The Round Up :Punishment (Outlaws 4)" continues the universe of the "Outlaws" series, following the monstrous detective Ma Seok-do (played by Ma Dong-seok) as he battles an online illegal gambling syndicate. The villain of this series, Baek Chang-ki (played by Kim Mu-yeol), is a former special forces mercenary who leads a massive illegal gambling operation, against which Ma Seok-do launches a crackdown.
