The conflict between ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and HYBE continues, and various producers and creators have submitted a petition against Min Hee Jin.
According to sources from the legal and entertainment industries, the petition, submitted to the court, includes notable figures such as Han Sung Soo of Pledis, who achieved a record-breaking 16 million album sales with Seventeen, and So Sung Jin, MP of Source Music, responsible for producing LE SSERAFIM.
Additionally, the petition includes prominent names like Pdogg, the chief producer of Big Hit Music, and Son Sung Deuk, the performance director, as well as Kim Sung Hyun, the creative director of both BTS and LE SSERAFIM, and Slow Rabbit, the producer of TXT. Chairman Bang's petition, previously partially disclosed during an interim hearing, highlights personal animosity towards Min Hee Jin and stresses the importance of establishing precedents for the K-pop industry's development and creator-centric systems.
The petition submitted by these producers emphasizes the value of the multi-label system, which has been instrumental in K-pop's rise and advocates for its protection. It also raises concerns about the entertainment industry's destabilization due to individual interests.
While it seems that producers under HYBE have united in this petition, it's essential to note that many of them have been influential figures in the music industry for approximately 20 years, each with their own unique philosophies, even before joining HYBE.
An industry insider conveyed, "Criticism and concerns within the industry are increasing, as Min Hee Jin's actions have not only brought fatigue and dislike towards K-pop among the public and fandom but have also undermined the proportional relationship between effort and reward, shaking the core momentum of the industry, which consists of creators, artists, and all other workers."
On the other hand, 10,000 NewJeans fans, known as Bunnies, have submitted a petition supporting Min Hee Jin. They argued, "We fully acknowledge Min Hee Jin's achievements for New Jins so far, and hope for her continued close relationship with the members and believe it is the best direction for NewJeans' growth."
Meanwhile, the upcoming ADOR intermediary general meeting of shareholders (EGM) on the 31st is expected to be pivotal for Min Hee Jin's future. If the EGM proceeds, HYBE, holding 80% of ADOR's shares, will likely dismiss Min Hee Jin, necessitating a fresh start for ADOR under a new board.
However, Min Hee Jin has filed a court injunction to prevent HYBE from exercising voting rights. If the court grants Min's injunction, she will retain her position as ADOR's CEO for the time being. The outcome of this injunction is anticipated just before the EGM.
Amid this turmoil, NewJeans released their new double single 'How Sweet' on the same day. Despite the challenges, the title track 'How Sweet' ranked 6th, and the accompanying track 'Bubblegum' ranked 11th on Melon, South Korea's largest music platform, indicating their continued popularity.
