Amidst the ongoing investigation into the hit-and-run incident involving trot singer Kim Ho Joong, reports have surfaced that the police have finally sought a search and seizure warrant.
Kim Ho Joong is accused of colliding with a taxi on the opposite side of the road around 11:40 PM on May 9 in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and subsequently fleeing the scene.
Following the accident, a representative from Kim Ho Joong's agency, known as his manager, falsely claimed, "He was not driving." However, it later emerged that Kim Ho Joong admitted to being behind the wheel at the time of the accident after a police investigation. Consequently, the said representative may face charges of aiding and abetting a criminal in fleeing the scene.
However, the more significant concern arises from the fact that Kim Ho Joong's vehicle was equipped with a black box (dashcam) at the time of the accident, but it was discovered that the memory card was missing.
According to an exclusive report by MBC on May 15, the police eventually applied for a search and seizure warrant for Kim Ho Joong to secure the removed memory card. Additionally, the police are investigating the possibility that Kim Ho Joong was driving under the influence at the time of the accident.
A search and seizure warrant refers to a court order specifying forced measures of seizure and search under the Criminal Procedure Act. While the execution of the warrant is generally commanded by judicial police officers under the direction of a prosecutor, the judge may also authorize court clerks or secretaries to execute it. During the execution, the warrant must be presented to the subject of the search. Care must be taken during the execution to preserve the secrecy of others and not to harm the honor of the subject.
Meanwhile, despite being embroiled in serious controversy, Kim Ho Joong maintains that all performances will proceed as scheduled.
Kim Ho Joong will hold performances for the 'Travolti Classic Arena Tour 2024' in Changwon and Gimcheon on the 18th to 19th of this month and on the 1st to 2nd of next month, respectively. Furthermore, on the 23rd to 24th of this month, a performance titled 'World Union Orchestra Super Classic: Kim Ho Joong & Prima Donna' will be held at the Olympic Park KSPO Dome.
That's interesting. They've got a warrant to seize a missing memory card. It's missing, how are they supposed to seize it?
.
If I was getting rid of something like that it wouldn't be anywhere it could be seized, it would be cut into pieces, if not ground to powder, and the pieces would be residing in lot of different locations where they would be unlikely to be found. It would not be whole, and none of it would be in a place which could conceivably be linked to me.
.
That said, this sounds SO dodgy. He's going to have lost his reputation in the court of public opinion no matter what happens, unless he manages somehow to turn this around. I don't think much of him for stabbing his manager in the back either, presumably he was asked to go and do that, I mean he was an idiot for doing it, and deserves everything he gets, but I don't suppose he did that without being told to.
