NewJeans is set to captivate audiences with a groundbreaking performance at the Geunjeongjeon Hall in Gyeongbokgung Palace, marking them as the first K-pop girl group to grace this prestigious venue.

In the upcoming event titled '2024 Korea On Stage - New Generation,' organized by the Cultural Heritage Administration and overseen by the National Heritage Promotion Institute and KBS Korean Broadcasting, NewJeans recently wrapped up a special stage pre-recording at Geunjeongjeon Hall.

Geunjeongjeon, a revered national treasure, once served as a pivotal ceremonial space during the Joseon Dynasty. The rarity of public performances within its vicinity, even after the opening of Gyeongbokgung Palace in 1954, underscores the significance of this occasion. The decision by the Cultural Heritage Administration to open Geunjeongjeon for NewJeans' performance reflects their leading role in the K-pop scene.

They're the second K-pop group (after BTS) and the first K-pop girl group to take center stage at Geunjeongjeon. NewJeans will deliver an extraordinary rendition of "Cool With You." Their performance will be accentuated by a unique blend of traditional Korean clothing, featuring specially crafted hanbok costumes that reinterpret the traditional Dansam Jeogori (the upper garment of the Hanbok), Suran Chima (the outer dress), and Daeran Chima (shorter outer dress), complemented by traditional-style footwear and elegant hair accessories. 

Furthermore, the spectacle will be enhanced by a breathtaking performance set against the enchanting night backdrop of Geunjeongjeon, symbolizing the fusion of national heritage and K-pop's global influence.

NewJeans expressed their gratitude, stating, "Performing on the stage of Geunjeongjeon, a cherished heritage site of our country, is truly an honor. We hope this opportunity will spark interest in our country's rich cultural heritage."

KBS emphasized the significance of NewJeans' performance, noting that it not only showcases the beauty and value of national heritage but also serves as a platform to promote Korean culture worldwide.

NewJeans' special stage at Geunjeongjeon will be broadcast on KBS2 at 11:25 PM on May 21, with the broadcast reaching 142 countries via KBS World.
