NewJeans have been caught up in a controversy for allegedly mirroring iconic nineties Mexican girl group Jeans, who debuted in 1995 and stayed active until 2008. The controversy follows claims by ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin that ILLIT had copied NewJeans' outfits and hairstyles.
Since then, fans of NewJeans have taken to social media to request Jeans members to comment on the matter. The official account for Jeans commented, "We love that the '90s have returned and reached new generations."
