MAXIM Korea has parodied Min Hee Jin with a female model.
On an online forum, netizens fervently reacted to the news of the magazine's recent pictorial featuring Min Hee Jin's look from the first press conference since the feud between ADOR and HYBE. The event, which sparked numerous parodies online, has now made its way into this male-oriented pictorial.
MAXIM Korea is a magazine targeting adult men with content primarily featuring images of women, cars, alcohol, and gadgets.
In this photoshoot, Min Hee Jin was parodied by 'Miss Maxim' model Han Ji Na, known for her highly explicit pictorials. For the June 2024 issue of MAXIM, Han Ji Na also parodied other iconic press conferences that shook South Korea over the years, including those of Na Hoon A, Park Joon Hyung, Choi Min Soo, and Seo Ji Young, all in her own style.
Han Ji Na shared, "When I first heard about the plan, I felt burdened by having to portray various people. So instead of perfectly mimicking those scenes, I added my own sexy charm to reinterpret them in a way that anyone could recognize."
She also candidly expressed, "Meeting various people these days, I've realized how difficult and admirable it is to raise one's voice and make assertive statements. Watching Min Hee Jin's press conference, which became the main theme of this photoshoot, I thought, 'Life should be like Min Hee Jin.'"
Meanwhile, netizens expressed a range of reactions, including criticisms toward the magazine for attempting to sexually objectify figures unrelated to its usual content.
One netizen pointed out that in the past, MAXIM Korea has featured a controversial theme involving a woman getting kidnapped and murdered, with the concept of a man finding the corpse in the trunk.
Reactions poured in:
"I would sue them if I were her"
"I can't believe this is the level of MAXIM"
"Oh my god, this is making me nauseous"
"Shouldn't this be considered sexual harassment?"
"Exactly who are they targeting with this particular shoot??"
"I don't understand this"
"I don't even find the pictorial appealing..."
"Do men really like that?"
"Please don't go overboard"
"I hope she takes legal action"
"MAXIM KOREA is committing crimes"
"I would have felt harassed if I were her"
"And they wonder why Korean women aren't having any children"
