ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo candidly opened up about how he felt losing his friend Moonbin.
On May 8, Cha Eun Woo appeared as a special guest on 'You Quiz on the Block.' He opened up about his life, career, and the loss of his close friend during the show.
Cha Eun Woo explained that although he is known for being handsome and studious in school, he was never scouted to become a celebrity. He shared, "I had never been scouted to become a celebrity before, but one Sunday, I attended a physics cram school and was offered an audition. I thought it was a scam and considered not going. However, my teacher told me, 'This is an opportunity given to you, so you should take it.' The teacher adjusted my schedule, so I went to the audition with my mom. That's how I ended up becoming a trainee."
He continued, "I never danced before. So I got into a lot of trouble." He added, "There was no area I was good at. I was praised a lot at school, but then I was only scolded as a trainee so I lost a lot of confidence. After three and a half years of training, I learned to become patient and how to endure."
Cha Eun Woo also expressed his affection toward the ASTRO members and shared, "All our members are kind and we are deeply connected so we were able to overcome a lot of things." He also expressed, "I felt guilty when all the attention was focused on me. I only slept three hours a week, but I endured it because I felt responsible for promoting the team and letting everyone know how talented all the members are."
He then opened up about losing Moonbin, who suddenly passed away last year. Cha Eun Woo began by sharing, "Last year was a particularly hard year for me. I wrote the lyrics to the songs in my album this year and there were so many things I wanted to say. People forget so easily so I was sad. I thought about what would be a meaningful and memorable way to express it."
Cha Eun Woo added, "I cried a lot while writing the lyrics. I still can't sing that song... I felt too guilty. He appears in my dreams often. When someone asks, 'Are you okay?' I don't want to say whether I'm okay or not. So, the direction and method of life I chose are to do better and to live better. That's why I'm working hard. I think he (Moonbin) would want that and hope for that."
Cha Eun Woo continued, "I feel like I should cherish and live even harder, thinking that I should carry it with me for a lifetime. I thought I should get myself together even more so that my surroundings wouldn't collapse. Even though the company said I could take a break, that's why I ended up doing 'Wonderful World'." Finally, Cha Eun Woo shared a message to the late Moonbin, saying, "Binnie, are you doing well? I miss you. Don't worry about me. I'm fulfilling your share. Let's meet again."
Binnie meant a lot to his members and it's heartbreaking to see how difficult this has been for them. I hope that he's happy ❤️
