DAY6's Young K recently shared the backstory of the band's formation.
On April 23, Young K appeared as a special guest on the Vivo TV YouTube talk show, where he was driven to his next destination by Song Eun Yi.
In the video uploaded on this day, Young K shared about the group's first full comeback as a group in four years. He shared that due to COVID-19 and the members' mandatory military service, they were on a hiatus for four years. In particular, Young K revealed that the members had timed their enlistment to make sure that the members would enlist together and also be discharged around the same time.
Also on the show, Young K reflected on his journey since joining JYP Entertainment and also the group's journey as DAY6. He shared, "When I was in Canada, a lot of people praised me for my singing abilities, which boosted my confidence quite a bit. But then I was humbled after joining JYP because it felt like all the talented people were gathered at JYP."
Young K also shared that the group DAY6 became a band due to the lack of dance skills of all the members. He shared, "We were the first group that JYP Entertainment gave up on when it comes to dancing. That's why we formed DAY6 formed the band. It wasn't because we were all good at playing instruments."

This is somewhat refreshing.. that a company would cater to the trainees ability instead of just trashing them bc they couldn't dance.
