NewJeans' popular track "Super Shy", featured on their second EP 'Get Up', has crossed the milestone of 500 million streams on Spotify, as reported by the music streaming platform on April 16 KST. This achievement marks "Super Shy" as the fourth song by NewJeans to reach this impressive streaming milestone, following the success of "OMG", "Ditto", and "Hype Boy".
Known for its infectious beats, "Super Shy" made waves both domestically and internationally upon its release in July last year. The track soared to the top of various charts, including ranking 2nd on the US Billboard's 'Global 200' and 'Global (excluding the US)', as well as securing spots in Spotify's Global 'Daily Top Song' and US 'Daily Top Song' charts. It also made notable appearances on Billboard's 'Hot 100' and the UK Official Singles Chart 'Top 100', setting new records for NewJeans.
With "Super Shy" joining the ranks of their other successful tracks, NewJeans has achieved a remarkable feat of having all 12 songs from their three albums surpassing the billion-dollar streaming mark on Spotify. The cumulative number of streams for their entire discography on the platform has now exceeded 4 billion.
In anticipation of their upcoming double single release titled 'How Sweet', slated for release on May 24 KST, pre-orders will commence on Apirl 26 KST. 'How Sweet' will feature the title track of the same name along with the b-side "Bubble Gum". The latter has already gained attention as the theme song for Japan's Fuji TV morning broadcast program 'Mezamashi 8' and a commercial CM song for a Japanese shampoo brand, showcasing NewJeans' refreshing charm. Fans can look forward to the pre-release of the "Bubble Gum" music video at midnight on April 27 KST.
According to the Spotify royalties calculator, that means $1.19 million.
