On April 12 KST, the team behind Mnet’s upcoming girl group competition program ‘I-Land 2: N/a’ appeared at a press conference, teasing the birth of a never-before-seen, sensational global girl group.
On this day, Kim Shin Young PD and Lee Chang Kyu PD joined the competition’s main producer Taeyang, music producers VVN and 24, and performance directors Monika and LEEJUNG. All 24 contestants of the program also appeared in their signature school uniforms.
First, on the difference between 'I-Land' season 1 and season 2, Kim Shin Young PD remarked, "For season 2, we have teamed up with The Black Label, a music label which boasts a unique color."
Some time ago, anonymous accusations of school bullying against one 'I-Land 2' contestant arose on one online community, soon after the identities of the 24 contestants were revealed. Regarding the issue, Kim Shin Young PD stated, "All contestants and their legal guardians were carefully interviewed during the selection process to check for any problems that might arise. All of the contestants have been verified through objective checks of student records, including any past records indicating involvement in a School Violence Committee. Because school violence is a matter that cannot be tolerated, if any issues arise, we will respond with careful checks."
Also during this press conference, Kim Shin Young PD clarified that the contestants were receiving attentive care during all scheduled filmings, dismissing previous accusations of "poor treatment".
Meanwhile, on this day, main producer Taeyang shared his personal thoughts on his participation. "I am very fortunate to be in my 17th year of promotions in this industry. As I was chosen to participate on this program as the girls' main producer, I hope to give the contestants the best advice on what it means to build one's identity, hone talent, and cultivate good character, based on my own thoughts and experiences. I hope that I can be a model mentor for the contestants, and I'm looking forward to producing a group with a color that people will not have expected," Taeyang relayed.

The glory director also made sure to conduct a history check on every cast member. We saw how that turned out. You gotta go all the way back to kindergarten and make sure she didn’t smack a pencil out of somebody’s hand or steal somebody’s stickers
