Hwang Jung Eum is facing a possible defamation lawsuit after she called out the wrong person as her husband's mistress.

The incident occurred when Hwang Jung Eum posted a photo of an unidentified woman on her Instagram story, accompanied by the words, "Hey ugly. Please, please, marry my husband. But can't your Bangkok vacation wait until the divorce is done?"

The issue was that the woman's face was not covered, and her social media user name was also exposed. Hwang Jung Eum's fans quickly suspected that the woman in the post was the one involved in an extramarital affair with Hwang Jung Eum's husband, Lee Young Don.

This was because the woman in question shared a post thanking an individual named Lee Young Don, for treating her to a vacation in Thailand.

Despite Hwang Jung Eum quickly deleting the post after uploading, many were able to catch a glimpse of the social media account. This led to many of Hwang Jung Eum's fans directing malicious comments at the woman.

In response, the woman clarified that 'Lee Young Don' is a nickname given to her best friend, who is a female. The woman added that she and two of her close friends had recently vacationed in Bangkok, but none of them had ever met Hwang Jung Eum's husband Lee Young Don.

On April 4, Hwang Jung Eum immediately issued an apology for hastily exposing the information on an innocent civilian. She shared, "I would like to sincerely apologize for inconveniencing a civilian and their acquaintances by publicizing their social media posts. I should have been clearer about private and public matters in a space where my actions are visible to many people, but in an emotionally unstable state, I made a serious mistake and caused discomfort to many onlookers as well, and I apologize for that."

While many netizens were criticizing Hwang Jung Eum for being thoughtless in posting on her social media, there was a handful of netizens sympathizing with the actress.
