On March 4th, at the Ilji Art Hall in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, the production announcement for the YouTube hip-hop survival show '2024 Tournament Versus Rap Battle Rap Cup' (hereinafter referred to as Rap Cup) was held.
'Rap Cup' is a survival rap battle contest with a grand prize of 100 million won. Inspired by the World Cup, the program adopts exciting competition formats such as group battles and tournaments.
It offers the highest prize money in the history of YouTube hip-hop competitions, 100 million won, along with special privileges for ranked participants, including the opportunity to release collaboration tracks with popular rappers and to perform in concerts.
Yang Dong Geun appears from the round of 32 as a mission master. He appeared in Disney+'s 'Moving' last year and will continue his global journey with the upcoming 'Squid Game Season 2'.
Yang Dong Geun shared, "Before K-content was loved globally, we had a tough time in Korea. We have now received love from people worldwide after going through those times. Hip-hop has also had its share of hard times in this land, but it seems ready now. The directors have gone through that journey as well. The young talents are healthy, so I think it's time to reach out to the world. It's the year of the dragon, and the energy is good, so I hope 'Rap Cup' receives a lot of love."
Yang Dong Geun also mentioned, "If I had to choose between watching 'Squid Game' and 'Rap Cup,' it would be impossible because their release dates are different. I hope you watch both. There's a lot to show."
When asked what he would do if he won the 100 million won prize by participating, Yang Dong Geun humorously replied, "First, I would pay off some of my loans and then add it to my children's education fund."
'Rap Cup' will be uploaded every Thursday at 6 PM from March 7th to May 23rd on the official YouTube channel.
