The American Academy Awards commemorated the late Lee Sun Gyun, who passed away last year.
On March 10, the 96th Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles. A moment was set aside to pay tribe to filmmakers, actors, and figures in the film industry who passed away over the past year during the "In Memoriam" segment.
Lee Sun Gyun was also included in the lengthy list of renowned individuals and played a video from the actor's projects in the background while Andrea Bocelli and Matteo Bocelli sang "Time To Say Goodbye."
Film critic Lee Dong Jin, who has commentated on this year's Oscars in Korea, stated, "Seeing Lee Sun Gyun at the Oscars makes my heart heavy."
Lee Sun Gyun received recognition for various works, including 'White Tower,' 'Coffee Prince,' 'Pasta,' 'My Mister' and more. He received worldwide recognition through the success of the Oscar-winning film 'Parasite' in 2019.
Lee Sun Gyun passed away on December 27, last year, at the age of 48. He was under intense police investigation for suspected drug use. However, both preliminary urine tests and comprehensive drug tests by the National Forensic Service came back negative.
