JYP Entertainment, one of South Korea's "BIG 3" entertainment agencies for decades, is renowned for producing popular K-pop groups like 2PM, Wonder Girls, GOT7, TWICE, Stray Kids, among others. The agency was founded in 1997 by Park Jin Young (J.Y. Park), who himself started his career as a member of the trio boy group ‘Park Jin Young and the NG (New Generation).’ Following in the footsteps of their JYP founder, a number of former JYP artists also established their own entertainment agencies, independent labels, and fashion labels.
While they once graced the stage as JYP artists, these singers have since transitioned into the CEO role, carving out their own paths and making significant impacts in the entertainment industry. Let’s check out ten former JYP Entertainment artists who have successfully made the leap into entrepreneurship:
PARK JIYOON – PARKJIYOON CREATIVE [2009]
JAY PARK – AOMG [2013], H1GHR MUSIC [2017] & MORE VISION [2022]
RAIN – RAIN COMPANY [2015]
JACKSON WANG – TEAM WANG RECORDS [2017] & TEAM WANG DESIGN [2020]
MENG JIA – MENG JIA STUDIO [2019]
BAEK YE RIN – BLUE VINYL [2019]
San E – FameUs [2019]
YUBIN – rrr ENTERTAINMENT [2020]
WANG FEIFEI – WANG FEIFEI STUDIO [2021]
MARK TUAN – Mark Tuan Studio [2021] & DNA RECORDS [2021]
These former JYP Entertainment artists-turned-CEOs' journeys from performing on stage to leading their own enterprises inspire aspiring artists and entrepreneurs alike and showcase the limitless possibilities that exist within the world of entertainment.
Jay Park is possibly the most successful one on this list because he's not only founded more than one company, but also has had multiple artists/clients. Other than that, I feel like most of these artists barely count just because some of these artists are only really CEOs of their own companies out of self management.
