Dating rumors soon ensued, and Kim Soo Hyun's agency immediately denied them and stated they were perplexed about why Kim Sae Ron posted the photo.

Netizens speculated reasons as to why Kim Sae Ron posted the photo and YouTube reporter Lee Jin Ho purported the actress posted the photo out of impulse and wanted to grab attention. Kim Sae Ron finally told reporters that she was preparing a statement but ultimately decided to remain silent.

On March 27, Kim Sae Ron stated, "I've thought about it extensively, but I believe it's best not to comment as it's not an official position." Although Kim Sae Ron seemed to have decided to remain silent after giving much thought, according to an industry insider, Kim Sae Ron was never going to release a statement in the first place.

The industry insider stated, "Kim Sae Ron had no intention of making a statement from the very beginning, and (the news that Kim Sae Ron is organizing her statement) arose due to a misunderstanding."
