A high school student became the youngest winner of 'Miss Trot.'
Jung Seo Joo, born in 2008 and a freshman in high school, clinched the first place win on 'Miss Trot 3,' beating out all the contestants on the show.
Jung Seo Joo received the highest final score overall with 2823.18 points, securing her place at number 1. She received the highest master score and track score but was not able to receive the highest viewer text vote score. She received the third highest viewer vote score following behind Bae Ah Hyun and Oh Yu Jin respectively.
Jeon Seo Joo has become the youngest winner in the history of trot competition shows.
On her final performance, she dedicated the song "My Mother" by Lee Hyo Jung to her grandmother. She explained, "My uncle passed away after fighting against cancer for two years. My grandma had a hard time. I always woke up to my grandmother crying. I would sing Trot for her every time she was having a hard time and she loved it so I've been singing Trot songs ever since."
After being called as the winner, Jung Seo Joo shed tears and said, "I'm so thankful for all the love and support (I was given) despite being so lacking. I want to thank my family, the masters, and the production team."
She also thanked her fans and shared, "It's all thanks to my fans that I was able to make it this far. I will never forget this gratitude and work hard to repay with good results."
Jung Seo Joo also received 300 million KRW (~227,775 USD) as the prize money, along with a premium beauty care device and a premium bed set.
On this day, the final episode of 'Miss Trot 3' recorded a nationwide audience rating of 19.5% (based on Nielsen Korea, paid households), with a peak of 20.6%. This marks another record-breaking achievement in viewership. Since its first broadcast, it has set a new record for 12 consecutive weeks as the top program on Thursdays across terrestrial, cable, and satellite channels.
