The popular tvN drama 'Marry My Husband' is set to make its way to Japanese screens with a localized version. Studio Dragon, the production company behind the original Korean series, revealed news on February 14 that discussions about adapting the beloved webtoon into a Japanese drama were underway even before the Korean version aired.
According to Studio Dragon, the decision was influenced by the immense popularity of the 'Marry My Husband' webtoon in Japan. The team is currently in talks with Japanese counterparts to finalize the direction of the adaptation.
Starring Park Min Young, Lee Yi Kyung, Na In Woo, and Song Ha Yoon, 'Marry My Husband' has been a hit since its premiere on January 1 KST. With steadily increasing viewership ratings, the drama achieved its highest nationwide rating of 11.8% (according to Nielsen Korea) with its 11th episode aired on February 5 KST. As the series nears its conclusion, only two episodes remain.
The drama's success extends beyond South Korea, gaining popularity overseas as well. 'Marry My Husband' has consistently ranked high on Prime Video's Worldwide TV Show category, reaching the top spot in numerous countries including Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore. Impressively, the drama has also made waves in Western markets such as the US, the UK, Canada, Germany, Spain, and Switzerland, demonstrating its global appeal.
With its captivating storyline and stellar cast, 'Marry My Husband' has captivated audiences worldwide, paving the way for its upcoming Japanese adaptation and further solidifying its status as a global sensation.
I hope they stick to the webtoon and don't include Yura's character. If they do that then I'll watch it for sure!
