Red Velvet made their official debut on August 1, 2014, under SM Entertainment. Comprising of members Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy, with Yeri joining in 2015, the group burst onto the scene with the single "Happiness." The eclectic blend of pop, R&B, and electronic elements showcased in their debut track immediately caught the attention of K-pop fans.
Red Velvet swiftly captured the K-pop industry's spotlight with their catchy melodies and stunning visuals. Recently, Korean fans revisited Red Velvet's debut, lauding it as legendary and unparalleled in the industry.
Korean netizens commented, "They were legendary during 'Ice Cream Cake'. Their makeup, outfit, and everything was so pretty," "I guess this is why people say youth is beauty," "I have had been a fan since their debut, so they still seem so young but now looking at their old photos, they really look like babies," "Their style back then holds up today," "Their debut is unbeatable," "I think Red Velvet is the one top legendary girl group," "My princesses," "They're so pretty and lovely still," and "They all look so young."
Uh someone doesn't seem to remember their debut, which was roundly criticized at the time as lackluster, rushed to distract from an SM scandal at the time. They easily redeemed themselves with their second song where they added the final member, and have certainly become legends since then, but let's not lie about that debut.
This is revisionist history at its finest.
