Korean netizens have collectively voiced their profound longing for GFriend online.
On January 6th, netizens started indulging in a dose of melancholic nostalgia as they shared their memories of GFriend's music. Titled "The title song that showed GFriend's color before HYBE started managing," a post on a popular online community garnered attention.
The original poster wrote, "'Crossroads' was the first comeback after HYBE acquired Source Music, but they still worked with their original composer/producer for this song. Later, HYBE gave them the concept of choosing 'Apple' at the crossroads. Then they had their symbolic glass ball change color to red, signaling a change in their music style. I know people had mixed reactions to 'MAGO' but everyone agrees that it's such a shame that their activities just suddenly came to an end."
Netizens expressed their longing for GFriend in the comments of the post, saying:
"I wanted to see what they had in store. They had their distinct color. What a shame."
"I loved 'Crossroads.'"
"As a fan, 'Apple' led a lot of newbies to the fandom although many existing fans expressed their disappointment due to the drastic change in style. So I wonder what they would have done if they continued their activities."
"I was looking forward to their next song because I loved 'MAGO.' But..."
"I miss all 6 GFriend on stage performing."
"I think 'Apple' was the goat."
"I never imagined a group like GFriend would disband like that."
"Bring back my GFriend."
"I know they are doing well as solo artists and unit but I do miss them as a team."
"I've stopped listening to HYBE songs after they disbanded GFriend like that."
What do you think?
They should have bought their albums then if they wanted them to stick around. The sales were quite bad at the end.
And Mago is one of my favorite K-Pop songs.
