At the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 16th, the production presentation for the Netflix movie 'Badland Hunters' was held. The event was attended by actors Ma Dong Suk, Lee Hee-joon, Ahn Ji-hye, Noh Jeong-eui, and director Heo Myeong-haeng.
Netflix will release 'Badland Hunters' on the 26th of this month. It is an action blockbuster that depicts the struggle for survival in a world devastated by a massive earthquake.
Ma Dong-seok plays the role of Nam-san, a hunter with Herculean strength, who confronts his enemies using his signature bare-handed action and a variety of weapons, including guns and knives. Set in a post-apocalyptic fantasy world, the film features more intense action performances than his previous work.
Ma Dong-seok said, "Even the same movements were directed to look rougher and more intense than real action. If realistic action tries to look real, 'Badland Hunters' crosses the line into a new realm of action," raising expectations for the film.
Director Heo and Ma Dong-seok have previously collaborated as martial arts director and actor in various projects, including the 'The Outlaws' series. This is their first time working together as director and actor.
Director Heo said, "I have been developing scripts for Ma Dong-seok to direct, and when I heard the proposal to direct, I wondered if it was really happening. When I was a martial arts director, we shared opinions about action, but now that I'm a director, it was new and fun to share dialogue too."
Lee Hee-joon plays the villain Yang Ki-su, the only surviving doctor in the world. Lee Jun-young plays Ji-wan, Nam-san's partner, while No Jeong-eui and Ahn Ji-hye appear as the girl Su-na and Sergeant Eun-ho of the special forces, respectively.
Lee Hee-joon said, "As the work has a clear opposition between good and evil, I wondered how to make the drama more interesting. I imagined how it would feel to survive in such a world every day while creating my character."
Originally planned for theatrical release, 'Badland Hunters' will skip the theaters and be released on Netflix. Ma Dong-seok expressed his happiness, saying, "I am pleased to show the film to audiences in more countries through Netflix."
Cant wait for this, His action movies are awesome
