On January 12, it was reported that there are ongoing discussions regarding the extension of Kep1er's contract. Kep1er's 2-year contract is set to expire in July 2024.
It has been reported on this day that Wake One is actively pursuing the extension of Kep1er's contracts and remains committed to extending the group's promotional period.
Wake One revealed, "Last year, we proactively engaged in meetings with all agencies to establish a long-term activity roadmap and strategy for the artist. It was not achieved despite our best efforts to reach an agreement with the previous agency. As time remains in the activity period, we will continue mutual discussions." This aligns with the agency's position stated in September 2023.
A representative emphasized, "Wake One has not abandoned discussions for the extension of Kep1er's activities, maintaining an unchanged position."
Meanwhile, the group LIMELIGHT, under 143 Entertainment, released their 3rd mini-album 'LAST DANCE' on January 12, announcing plans for a period of group reorganization following the conclusion of this album's activities with a 3-member system.
Kep1er's members, Kang Ye Seo and Mashiro, will pursue individual activities after the conclusion of Kepler's activity period, returning to their previous agency, 143 Entertainment.
Debuting on January 3, 2022, through Mnet's 'Girls Planet 999,' Kep1er, a 9-member project group, has consistently maintained an active presence since their debut album 'FIRST IMPACT' and the title track "WA DA DA," achieving significant popularity, particularly in Japan.
The initial end date for Kep1er's activities, coinciding with their 2nd anniversary on July 3, may undergo changes based on future contract negotiations.
They've had terrible management, hit- or- miss song releases that seemed to get worse with each comeback, and little fan support because everyone was butthurt about their favorites not getting in. Not every project group can be a success like Iz*One or Wanna One, sadly. Here's hoping they all fare better after they disband.
