After completing a 1-year and 6-month prison sentence related to charges involving solicitation of prostitution and overseas gambling, former Big Bang member Seungri, who was released in February 2023, has been observed visiting clubs and other locations.
Now, there's a growing interest in Jung Joon Young's release.
On December 8, online communities are bringing attention to the news that Jung Joon Young is set to be released in just four months.
Netizens are commenting, "There's only 4 months left?" Time flies," "Seungri is probably going to pick him up," "The sentence was so short," "Don't appear on TV," "He's probably going to become a YouTuber," "He's probably going to go clubbing with Seungri when he gets out," "The time goes by too quickly," "He's coming!!" and "I can't believe he's being released."
The revelations of the sexual crimes committed by Jung Joon Young and Choi Jong Hoon surfaced during the investigation of Seungri's involvement in the Burning Sun Gate scandal. A group chat, known as the 'Jung Joon Young chatroom,' was uncovered on Seungri's phone during the course of the investigation into his activities.
In 2016, Jung Joon Young and Choi Jong Hoon received prison sentences for the collective sexual assault of an intoxicated woman, alongside Mr. Kim (former MD of Burning Sun), Mr. Kwon (company employee), and Mr. Heo (former employee of an entertainment agency).
Notably, Jung Joon Young faced charges of illegally recording and sharing sexual videos and photos within the group chat, spanning several months from late 2015.
Initially sentenced to 6 years in prison in the first trial, Jung Joon Young's sentence was later reduced to 5 years in the second trial. This reduction was confirmed in the Supreme Court in September 2020, and he is presently serving his sentence, with a scheduled release date of March 20, 2024.
Meanwhile, Choi Jong Hoon, having reintegrated into society following the completion of his sentence, has sparked controversy due to his unapologetic demeanor despite fulfilling his legal obligations. Post-release, he and his mother attended church, where his mother remarked, "Why create a commotion over something trivial? Why trouble someone trying to live by faith? God will resolve everything in due course."
Seungri, too, is grappling with controversies in his personal life. He has been at the center of discussion regarding his dating life, in which he was accused of dating two women at the same time.
living by faith? ma'am, your son was convicted of sexual assault, you raised a sinner.
