Earlier this week on December 13, Jinusean's Sean, co-president of the Seungil Hope Foundation, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for what will be South Korea's first ever ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Hospital.
Sean's journey began when he first met former basketball player Park Seung Il, who suffers from ALS, in 2009. Together, the two established the Seungil Hope Foundation in 2011 and set a goal of building South Korea's first hospital specializing in care for ALS patients.
In the last 14 years, Sean has led numerous charitable campaigns to raise funds for the Seungil Hope Foundation's ambitious project. He was one of the first celebrities to begin the 'Ice Bucket Challenge', a social media challenge raising awareness for ALS Disease, in South Korea. He has donated 550 million KRW (~ $420,000 USD) himself to the cause.
Finally, the Seungil Hope Foundation has reached its funding goal, and the specialized hospital will be built in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi Province. The hospital is projected for completion in December of 2024.
Big respect to him!!
