Unleashing the Maniac: A Deep Dive into Viviz’s Latest Song

"Maniac" is a captivating blend of pop and electronic music recently released by Viviz on October 2, 2023. Despite it being a new release, the internet has been abuzz with comments acclaiming it as the "best comeback of Viviz." As such, we are here to dissect the details of this intriguing song, underscoring its manic elements. With a run-time of 3:16, "Maniac" examines the overwhelming emotions and desires that can engulf individuals, the kind of sentiments that can tip us into a state of intense frenzy.

Viviz's vocals infuse an added layer of intensity, flawlessly encapsulating the song's message. Eunha and Sinb beautifully complement with their distinctive vocal abilities. Eunha showcases a stellar vocal performance, Umji possesses a unique vocal texture unmatched by other artists, and Sinb's voice (despite her known fierceness) delivers a sweet touch that is surprisingly pleasing. From its hypnotic beats to Viviz’s enchanting vocals, "Maniac" has managed to rule the music charts since its release. So, let's delve into what makes it truly appealing.

The Lyrics:
The lyrics of "Maniac" delve into the erratic nature of love and desire, creating an emotional rollercoaster that captivates listeners. Now, let's pore over the hidden meanings within the lyrics and explore their strategic value for the artists and their company, particularly for an international audience. The lyrics can be anatomized into three primary phases:

- Phase One: This phase elucidates the struggle to comprehend and explain the tumultuous inner feelings of love as captured by the line, "This love is maniac, But I can’t killin' it, A love that can’t be explained with any other words”.

- Phase Two: In this section, members Umji and Sinb convey the uneasy blend of excitement and fear associated with love. This notion is echoed in the lines, "An exciting attraction” and then “A tiresome love phobic”.

- Phase Three: The final segment speaks about accepting and courageously facing your true feelings, the "bloody truth.” Here, you finally shed your pretense, revealing lines like "finally throwing off the mask” and “this colorful tragic." The ultimate resolution seems to rest in accepting these feelings with lines like “And I’m okay with it, In the end, we can’t understand this love either” indicating just that.

Not yet clear about the overall theme? Let’s delve into the song’s narrative …

The accompanying music video reveals further depths. It kickstarts with Sinb driving a car, which seems quite normal for K-pop videos, until she adjusts her mirror to reveal Umji in the back seat. Parallelly, we see Eunha in an office, gently interacting with a small piano in the company of another ambiguous hand. The narrative proceeds revealing Umji walking alone with a suitcase.

As the song progresses, we witness Sinb distancing herself from Umji and Eunha. It's at this point we see Eunha extend her hand towards Umji, just as Sinb walks away. Contrasting moods are then depicted, where Sinb seems visibly upset whilst Umji makes a hopeless attempt to explain something.

The subsequent 40 seconds portray the members grappling with their feelings and thoughts. The narrative subsequently presents Umji and Sinb immersed in a tense situation. The scene then unravels Eunha framework flaring at Sinb’s car, given its significance from the video’s onset. The ambiance continues to be somber and unsettling. However, the tension ebbs away when Umji sings, “I’m okay with it," and we see the girls reuniting happily.

Interpreting this, it appears we are witnessing a riveting love triangle, a concept gradually garnering attention on a global scale. Is this the storyline you inferred, or do you see a different interpretation?

I eagerly anticipate your responses about this interpretation and your thoughts on the "Maniac" song.

I also believe the MV story is about a love triangle between the members, so that's a little bold for Korea if they really are showing a lesbian love story.
