An interview with Sulli (Choi Jin-ri) has been released, where she candidly expressed her thoughts on the criticism she faced, the controlled environment, and the abnormal entertainment industry. She shed tears as she shared her feelings.
On the 13th, Netflix released "Persona: Sulli," which consists of two films: a short film titled "4: Clean Island" starring Sulli and a feature-length documentary "To Sulli."
Originally, the series was planned with a structure that combined multiple short films. However, due to the timing of filming in October 14, 2019, when Sulli passed away, it remained incomplete for a long time. It has now been released to the public after four years.
Sulli opened up about the pain and anguish she felt when discussing online harassers. When asked about her feelings towards those who spread malicious rumors, she expressed curiosity about whether they had any regrets. She said, "That person probably didn't think it would end up like this. People talk about others all the time, but that friend just happened to be unlucky and got caught, right?"
Sulli shed tears as she explained the reason behind her leniency. She said, "I suffered even more as I pursued legal action. It was more painful than feeling happy or angry or letting things go. It hurt when I said that person was caught, and it hurt when that person was sincerely apologetic. At that time, just receiving an apology was painful, no matter how I accepted it. I think I was continuously forgiving others during that time."
She revealed that she used to dislike showing her vulnerable side. However, she no longer wanted to hide. She realized that having pride and not feeling sorry were not admirable qualities. Admitting her vulnerability made her stronger. Sulli contemplated her future, acknowledging that she didn't know what it held. She expressed a simple desire, saying, "I don't know about the future. That question seems too difficult. I want to live well. I want to be healthy and have stability." She left her audience with a heavy heart.
I might have to skip this one. I’m not sure I’d be able to get through it. Seems like a painful thing to watch.
