This year's line-up for the prestigious annual music program 'Kohaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Battle),' hosted by the Japanese public broadcaster NHK, includes several high-profile K-pop groups.
The announcement, made on November 13, was reported by several Japanese media outlets, including NHK itself. The NHK's 74th Kohaku Uta Gassen is set to take place on December 31 at the NHK Hall, located in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Among the talented roster are four K-pop acts: Seventeen, Stray Kids on the White Team and TWICE's unit MISAMO, and LE SSERAFIM on the Red Team. Seventeen and Stray Kids, both of whom have already established a significant fanbase in Japan, will be making their debut appearances on the Kohaku Uta Gassen stage.
For TWICE's sub-unit MISAMO, which is composed of members Mina, Sana, and Momo, this marks their first Kohaku Uta Gassen showing as a unit group. However, TWICE have been no strangers to the show, having already performed in the event four times prior. LE SSERAFIM will be gracing the stage for a second year running after their successful appearance in last year's showcase.
Added to this glittering line-up, local Japanese artists will also be participating, including transformational performances by Aimyon, a top singer in Japan, which marks her fifth appearance on the show. Mixed duo Yoasobi, known for their unique music, is set to appear for their third time. Notably, they will also be holding their first concert in Korea this December.
I wish ITZY was invited as well, their Japan discography is a masterpiece
