A foreign sasaeng fan of BTS's Jungkook has recently come under fire due to her excessive and invasive behavior towards the idol. This includes filming him without his consent and swiping a paper cup he used.
The fan's actions were made public when she posted a video on her Instagram account. The video displayed the fan's encounter with three well-known boy band idols of the '97-line': BTS's Jungkook, ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo, and NCT's Jaehyun. The encounter happened when the idols were amid a casual gathering at a pub in Apgujeong, South Korea.
Being a fan, the woman immediately recognized them and turned on her camera. She brazenly asked for their autographs, which clearly unsettled the K-pop stars, as seen in the video. When she did not depart, Jaehyun respectfully requested her to give them some privacy. He said: "I'm sorry, but we're having our own time (a meal) right now.”
Unfortunately, the fan disregarded their wishes and continued secretly filming the idols even after she moved away from their table. What raised more eyebrows was her following action; she snatched a paper cup used by Jungkook and Cha Eun Woo from their table. With audacity, she showcased this trophy on social media, bragging about her action.
The fan then gave her own breakdown of the entire incident on her Instagram and stated she sang with Jungkook for 10 seconds. However, she faced a massive backlash from other fans for her actions. Comments criticizing her intrusive behavior poured in, such as, "This is incredibly disrespectful,” "Do you have no respect for their privacy?" and "Just approaching with a camera was already crossing the line.” Eventually, she deleted her account in response to the criticism.
This was not Jungkook’s first encounter with annoying sasaeng fans. He has previously expressed his discomfort on numerous occasions. During his stay in the United States for a concert in Las Vegas, he publicly shared the threat calls he received, voicing his fear and frustration. He also strongly warned fans who had sent food deliveries to his home without his permission, promising a stern response towards such unacceptable behavior. His experiences amplify the importance of respecting artists' privacy and illuminate the dark side of stardom.
This is why idols need security. Crazy fans that dont care they are real human beings that have private lives. What a nut job.
