Earlier last week, Incheon Police booked G-Dragon on charges of violating drug control laws regarding suspicions of drug use.
Following the news of his booking, there were numerous YouTubers who uploaded videos scrutinizing G-Dragon's past actions and accused the artist of drug use due to his erratic behaviors caught on camera. Netizens also accused G-Dragon of suffering from drug use side effects, calling out his slurred speech and his irregular movements.
Although G-Dragon denied all allegations, many continued to spread unconfirmed information regarding G-Dragon's drug case.
Then, on November 2, a YouTuber revealed that he had received a letter from G-Dragon's legal representative warning that the artist would take legal action against the false information they were spreading.
The YouTuber explained in his latest video, "G-Dragon's lawyer sent me emails. They sent three. He claims he did not use drugs and will voluntarily attend for questioning. Honestly, I don't know who his lawyer is or how much he spent on the lawyer. When I woke up, I got another email that said 'We will respond with utmost severity if you continue to make baseless speculative reports.' After I received that email, I was very upset. Are they threatening me?"
Translation: Another thing is after I uploaded a video, G-Dragon's lawyer sent me an email/ "Why does a leading K-pop artist get involved in such groundless rumors?"/ That itself is evidence that he wasn't able to maintain himself well./ If you ask me that through the email, what it sounds like to me is../ "Hey, you take your video down fast. If you don't, I'm going to chase you to the end and take severe action."/ If you're shouting that you really didn't do drugs, why do you need to hire a lawyer?
This YouTuber continued, "He's a K-pop artist, that's why he receives interest from the public. G-Dragon is saying that he didn't do drugs, but the police made a statement saying they have firm evidence. This means one is lying, but this is for the public to think about."
After the YouTuber revealed he received an email from G-Dragon's legal team, many netizens believe that other YouTubers must have received the same email.
Netizens are speculating that YouTuber PPKKa received the same email because, not long after posting a video spreading negative information about G-Dragon, he took the video down and suddenly uploaded a new video defending the artist.
In the latest video, PPKKa stated that G-Dragon has been unjustly accused of drug use.
Not only that, there have been multiple articles deleted from news sites such as Naver News, leading many to believe that G-Dragon has begun taking legal action.
Netizens commented, "When are those YouTubers going to fall? They are still doing these antics even after ruining a streamer's life. They are the type to keep doing what they do even after being sued," "I guess that trash is scared of GD," "If GD is starting to make moves, I would be scared too," "Go get them GD," "Speaking positively, G-Dragon's mysterious and enigmatic because he doesn't communicate, and from the perspective of PPKKa, he's like an unreadable card. Haha, it must have been really surprising when G-Dragon did something unexpected with legal threats," "We'll see what happens," "The reason GD hired a lawyer is because of people like these YouTubers who spread false information..how does that YouTuber not know even after receiving email from GD's side," "GD definitely didn't do drugs because if he was guilty even a little bit, he wouldn't have made this as big like this," and "Old time GD fans know that GD goes with the flow for most things. So, if he's hiring a lawyer to take action like this, it must mean something. I want to believe in him until the end."
If you're shouting that you really didn't do drugs, why do you need to hire a lawyer?
Man, people really can't understand the basics of how the legal system works, huh?
