It has been confirmed that the travel ban on singer G-Dragon (35, real name Kwon Ji-yong), who received a 'negative' result in drug tests, has been lifted after one month.
According to the legal community on the 27th, the Drug Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency decided not to extend the travel ban on Mr. Kwon, which expired around the 25th.
It is known that the police recently requested the Ministry of Justice to extend the travel ban on actor Lee Sun-kyun (48), who is also under investigation for suspicion of marijuana and psychotropic substances under the Narcotics Control Law.
Under the Immigration Control Law, the Minister of Justice can prohibit departure for a period within one month for crime investigation. If there is a need to continue the departure ban after one month, the period can be extended.
There are speculations within police circles that the direction of the future investigation will differ for Mr. Kwon and Mr. Lee, given the differing measures regarding the extension of the travel ban.
Both individuals received a 'negative' judgment in the precise assessment by the National Forensic Service.
However, in the case of Mr. Lee, circumstantial evidence such as text messages exchanged with a club manager Ms. A (29, female) suggests that the police will continue the investigation.
However, the possibility that the case involving Mr. Kwon will conclude with a 'non-indictment' without further summoning and not being passed to the prosecution has increased. This is because there is no particular circumstantial evidence, and the precise assessment by the National Forensic Service related to the drug administration allegations has been completed.
Currently, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency is investigating or internally examining a total of 10 individuals, including Mr. Kwon and Mr. Lee, for drug administration allegations.
A police official said, "We cannot yet disclose the exact date of the travel ban release, whether it has been lifted, or the direction of future investigations.
"...the Minister of Justice can prohibit departure for a period within one month for crime investigation. If there is a need to continue the departure ban after one month, the period can be extended."
In GD's case, they started an investigation and banned GD, based on a woman's word about a SUSPICIOUS PIECE OF PAPER(???!!!!) There shouldn't even be a case, as long as they don't know if a crime was really committed. Sorry, but the Police were wrong...very unprofessional.
