The '2023 MTV Europe Music Awards' have been canceled.
On October 19, the official MTV EMA X/Twitter account wrote, "Given the volatility of world events, we have decided not to move forward with the 2023 MTV EMAs out of an abundance of caution for the thousands of employees, crew members, artists, fans, and partners who travel from all corners of the world to bring the show to life. The MTV EMAs are an annual celebration of global music. As we watch the devastating events in Israel and Gaza continue to unfold, this does not feel like a moment for a global celebration. With thousands of lives already lost, it is a moment of mourning."
The award show was set to be held in Paris on November 5, and BTS' Jungkook was scheduled to perform. MTV EMA also wrote that voting will continue, and the artists will receive their awards. The MTV EMAs will return next year in November 2024.
That's a bit of an odd reaction, the war in Ukraine has been going on for over a year now, there are wars going on in pockets all over the planet, why has an event in Paris been cancelled because of a new war in the near east?
.
War is horrible, there are always thousands of casualties, why have they reacted to just this one? What about the massacres and war in Darfur? Sudan? How about the horrible situation in Yemen? It doesn't make sense.
