Former LOONA member and solo artist Chuu opened up about her contract dispute with her previous agency.
Chuu's showcase for her first mini-album 'Howl' took place on the 18th at the Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. The event was hosted by broadcaster Park So-hyun.
Chuu made her debut in the music industry as the tenth member of LOONA in December 2017. The following August, she officially debuted as part of the group and continued her activities. However, she had been in conflict with her former agency, Blockberry Creative, over issues such as profit settlements.
In December 2021, Chuu filed a lawsuit against Blockberry and won the first trial, but the case has yet to be completely resolved, as Blockberry filed an appeal against the decision.
Regarding this, Chuu expressed, "I felt disappointed and upset that the issue became a topic I didn't want. Most of all, I felt sorry for the fans who must have had a tougher time than I did." She became emotional as she spoke.
Chuu also stated, "I was most upset about the fact that fans were worried. I may have told the fans, but I didn't engage in any behavior that would make me seem dishonest in their eyes. So, with that trust and self-assurance, I think I prepared this album well." She concluded by expressing her hopes for a new beginning as a solo artist.
Above all, the song stands out for showcasing a new side of Chuu that was not seen during her time with LOONA. She shared, "My friends were astonished when they first heard it. Even friends I've known for a decade asked, 'Is this really your voice?"
Chuu's debut solo album 'Howl' consists of a total of five tracks, including the title 'Underwater,' 'My Palace,' 'Aliens,' and 'Hitchhiker.'
Blockberry Creative is evil. I'm glad Chuu and the other girls got away from them. I really hope that company shuts down soon.
