K-dramas have treated fans to a broad spectrum of genres, from thrillers to heartfelt romances. Over the years, amidst the myriad of shows, specific characters have managed to resonate deeply with audiences, leaving an indelible mark. Here's a spotlight on seven such unforgettable characters.
1. Hong Du Shik: An understanding gentleman who has been through many ups and downs and understands the value of life, Hong Du Shik captured the hearts of so many viewers for his kind and innocent personality. What makes his character so great is that he isn't afraid to set things right; if there's a problem or a mistake, he isn't willing to brush it off but does all he can to clear out any misunderstanding.
2. Ban Ji Eum: Oftentimes, many female characters are portrayed as a damsel in distress and someone clueless, but not Ban Ji Eum. Rather than needing to be saved, she's the one who does the saving, and it's refreshing to see a female character basically take on all the roles that a typical male character would.
3. Go Moon Young: Bold and only focusing on her interests, there wasn't another character like Go Moon Young. Not afraid to show off her personality, Go Moon Young is another character many would love to see again.
4. Kim Sam Soon: An older lady who doesn't fit the typical beauty standard of Korean beauty, Kim Sam Soon is a character that every female can relate to personally. Her character felt more realistic to the average women you'd see on a daily basis and that's what made her character so great.
5. Jo Yoo Jung: "You know I have no chingu (friend)," the iconic character who gave us one of the best lines ever. Jo Yoo Jung added so much comedic effect to the drama series that it'd be great to see another character like her in every drama, don't you think?
6. Woo Young Woo: Woo Young Woo proved that just because someone has a disability doesn't mean they're incapable of making a name for themselves. She is a very refreshing character that brought so much awareness to viewers; hopefully, in future dramas, we can get more characters like her.
7. Lee Joon Ho: Green flag all around. Lee Joon Ho not only knew what his girlfriend needed but also respected and gave her time to come to her own terms about their relationship. A great partner in all aspects, viewers definitely more of the Lee Joon Ho type of boyfriends in all K-dramas.
