On August 21 KST, SM Entertainment confirmed that a minor had been identified as the suspect of malicious and slanderous comments about NCT member, Mark.
SM Entertainment stated, "We strive to enact zero tolerance in dealing with such issues to safeguard our artists. However, in acknowledgment of the fact that the suspect is underage, and demonstrated deep remorse for their actions, seeking forgiveness during the investigative process, it was Mark's preference to exercise leniency in this particular case."
Following a formal apology from the minor and repeated assurances to prevent recurrence, SM Entertainment and Mark agreed to leniency, sparing the minor from criminal charges.
Alongside the company's statement, an apology from the minor was also released, wherein they admitted to posting derogatory comments about Mark. Acknowledging their mistakes, the minor said, "In January 2022, I posted a severe profane statement derogating NCT member Mark's appearance. I regret my unthinking actions and if given the chance, I would like to ask for forgiveness personally." Additionally, the minor disclosed, "The detective handling the case contacted SM. They asked me to relay to NCT Mark my deep remorse due to my age and actions, and to assure him of my intention not to repeat such behavior."

Allowing that to happen is rewarding the perpetrator and will likely achieve their aim.... a one on one meet and greet, throw in some waterworks and they might get a hug. I hope they don't meet in person, or more kids will start doing this shit.
