Lee Jung-Ha's surprising transformation for his role as Kim Bong-Seok in the Disney+ K-drama "Moving" has shocked fans and viewers.
Actor Lee Jeong-ha, recognized for his roles in dramas like 'Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryeong,' 'Run On,' and 'I Know,' unveils a fresh facet of his acting prowess in Disney+'s 'Moving.'
In 'Moving,' Lee Jung-Ha portrays Kim Bong-Seok, a high school senior blessed with the power of flight. However, in a bid to lead a typical life, he conceals this unique gift. His mother, 'Mihyeon,' constantly fears that her son's special ability will be exposed to the world. Kim Bong-Seok carries weight plates in his backpack to counteract his innate power and stay grounded.
To truly embody the character of Kim Bong-Seok, Lee Jug-Ha underwent a significant transformation, gaining 30 kilograms. This dedication was aimed at authentically representing the essence of his role.
Commenting on this commendable commitment, 'Moving's director, Park In-Je remarked, "Casting for the role of 'Bong-Seok' was challenging given the preconceived image that fans of the original film had in mind. Despite this being his first time working with wire stunts, I believe he's among the best in Korea at it.”
Writer Kang Fang, who wrote the original work and screenplay, also commented on actor Lee Jung-Ha, saying, “He worked really hard to digest the character." He expressed his high satisfaction with the casting, saying, “An actor who is burning with enthusiasm.”
Lee Jung-Ha is now losing weight after filming the series, stated, “I was worried because my body got heavier after gaining weight, but after losing it, I became lighter and felt healthy because I exercised while adjusting my diet.”
If there’s a season 2, I hope there’s some scripted physical transformation where he can keep a leaner buffed look (like in the photo above).
It’s painful to see someone intentionally put on so much weight and look so unhealthy on-screen.
