In a surprising turn of events, three long-standing artists of SM Entertainment have recently revealed their significant career moves.
On August 6, it was confirmed that Super Junior's Kyuhyun had signed with Antenna for his individual activities, bidding farewell to SM Entertainment after an illustrious 17-year journey with the company.
Then on August 8, Girls' Generation's Sunny notified fans that she would no longer remain with SM Entertainment. She made headlines by parting ways with SM Entertainment after 16 years of dedication to the label. She revealed her departure from SM Entertainment through a message on her social media account while extending her heartfelt message for Girls' Generation's 16th-anniversary.
Adding to the shock wave, Baekhyun hastily logged on to Instagram Live to clarify rumors that he had established his own company. On August 7, Baekhyun was surprised that the news of establishing his own company had been leaked and went on a live broadcast to assure fans about his future activities. On this day, Baekhyun confirmed that he had opened his own label with choreographer Kasper and elaborated that he would be releasing his own work through the newly established label but will still be with SM for EXO activities.
Korean netizens gathered in an online community where they shared their thoughts on this matter. They commented, "Does it mean that the three of them won't join group activities?" "I don't think Baekhyun said he's leaving SM. He said he's staying?" "Did they not leave because of Lee Soo Man?" "I think Kyuhyun and Sunny are in different circumstances because they're leaving after their contract expired," "I think SM would be fine without having these three," "Kyunhyun and Sunny left without causing any noise," "SM still has a lot of artists so they will be fine," "Baekhyun doesn't belong in this post, lol," and "SM has a lot of rookies so they can manage without having three artists."
I don't understand why Knetz have such poor comprehension skills, or if that's truly a representative sample. Why would the artists specifically say the new contracts are for their SOLO activities, and that they're not leaving their groups, then Knetz wonder if they're doing group activities....has something got lost in translation?
.
Anyway, I wish them all the best for their future solo work. I'd like to see Kyuhyun in another musical, he was good in 웃는남자.
