Panic erupted in public transportation following BTS SUGA's concert in Seoul.
On online forums, netizens are discussing a recent commotion which started inside the subways in Seoul. The chaos unfolded on Seoul Subway Line 9 and the Sinnonhyeon Station, where screams were heard, leading to widespread fear among commuters that a violent act of terror had taken place.
However, it was eventually revealed that the screams came from BTS ARMY fans who were returning home after attending SUGA's concert at the KSPO Dome and watching his livestream. The fans' sudden outburst and reactions were due to SUGA's "7" friendship tattoo on his shoulder.
Public passengers and netizens attempted to quickly mitigate the situation on social media by spreading word that it was "neither a stabbing incident nor a case of bioterrorism." This panic in the city had already been widely present due to random stabbing incidents in public spaces in recent weeks.
Testimonies online revealed that passengers were "fleeing after hearing foreigners watching videos on their phone and screaming loudly."
The police were called to the scene and reported that personal belongings, food, trash, and even shoes were left behind as confused passengers hurriedly exited the train. Reports indicate that at least seven passersby were physically injured as a result of the chaos.
Reactions include:
"People must have been so scared because of the fans screaming like that. Why are they doing this??" "I can't believe the fans were screaming like that in public and causing a disturbance" "I would have been so scared if I were on that train" "The people in the compartment next to them were in fear. I would have been, too"
"I understand that you can get excited, but please don't scream in crowded public spaces"
"The people in the next compartment would have had no idea what was going on" "Is that really a video from a public subway? People would be confused for sure, thinking that it could be some stabbing" "Screaming in public nowadays...of course it causes panic"
"This would be an issue even if there had been incidents like that lately" "It's a public area...come on..."
Wow their stupidity caused harm to other people. The fans should be fined and pay damages to the victims.
