Are Korean parents taking things too far by listening in on teachers through a phone app?

A post on a specialized online community for elementary school teachers has recently caught significant attention.
The post showcased a text message exchange between two elementary school educators. In the conversation, one teacher expressed frustration over a recent incident in her classroom.
The teacher, referred to as Teacher A, who instructs first-grade students, shared that a parent had installed an app on their child's phone that enabled location tracking and audio recording. This parent had apparently been eavesdropping in on the class sessions and subsequently shared these recordings with other parents. Later on, this parent confronted and verbally attacked the teachers based on the recorded content.
Following the post, other teachers stated that they experienced the same thing. Jang Eun Jung, the chairperson of the Elementary Committee at the Korean Teachers and Education Worker's Union, stated, "(The number of) cases has exceeded 120. Illegal recordings are ongoing, and we are subjected to unwarranted coercion regarding our educational practices..."
Translation: "It's chaos. At one school, 1st-grade parents installed a sound relay app on their children's phones, created a group chat, and were caught collectively eavesdropping on the classroom, slandering teachers, and recording them. The entire school is in an uproar. Everyone, is it normal for people to secretly listen to every moment of your work and record evidence to make complaints?"
Translation: "Teachers are also human beings. How can they conduct lessons with children in a situation where an unspecified and unknown people are monitoring them at their workplace? Is this normal? How many more teachers need to suffer from this intangible violence before it stops? It's clear violence and a crime."
The attached photo indicated that the elementary school teacher discovered the audio tap after one parent informed her about the activities of other parents residing in the same apartment complex.
Translation: "App Store Reviews for the App in Question: There's an overflow of testimonials from parents of lower-grade elementary students praising the listening-to-surroundings feature, haha. "Sometimes I listen to what they're doing during class." "It's insane; it even manages to track the speed of the school bus."
App Store reviews:
Translation: "My child is in lower elementary school and has poor expressive abilities, which has always been a concern. However, by using this app, I can now confidently allow my child to go out alone without worry. I frequently utilize the location tracking and sound monitoring features. It has become an indispensable tool for us."
Translation: "It's great that I can hear my child's surroundings. Sometimes, I listen to what they're doing during class or at the academy."
Translation: "Listening to my child's surroundings in real-time is truly a very reassuring service! However, there seems to be a delay between listening sessions. If that is resolved, it would be my absolute favorite!"
Translation: "It seems like the best app for alleviating a mother's anxiety. Being able to monitor the child's walking speed, the speed of the academy bus, and even the sound, all worries and anxieties are relieved."
Korean netizens who read the post commented, "Wow, this is giving me goosebumps," "These parents must have so much time on their hands," "I'm sure these young parents didn't like their parents all up on their business when growing up, what's wrong with them tapping in on their children. This is legendary. A life without privacy..." "This is so crazy," "These are crimes," "What is this?" "This is why that young teacher from that elementary school killed herself," "These parents are crossing the line," "Why they are blatantly listening in," "They are real lunatics," "Why are they being this anxious?" "They should just lock their kids at home and raise them," and "Wow, I would want to quit my job if I were an elementary school teacher."
This new global movement of parents being hyper critical and controlling of teachers needs to stop because it isn't good for anyone and is going to end in no one wanting to become a teacher ever again.

I understand that a parent's duty is to protect a son/daugther and I would place cameras or a monitoring app on my child if I thought they were being mistreated at school. But this is one more step, it is not allowing your own child to have anything private and controlling the environment not only of their child in particular but of everyone around them, I imagine these parents not only controlling the teachers but even the lives of others parents . Because what child doesn't ever talk about their parents? From his brothers? Family disputes or even medical issues? ... this app should be banned.
