MNET's 'Produce' series is always fun because the lineups are based on our picks (minus the scandals), and every time, these groups are always so well-loved by everyone; it's sad that they're just temporary. Being ranked first out of all the other competing trainees prove that you are the nation's number one pick, and it's such an honor.
With Kep1er and ZEROBASEONE currently active and being the talk of the town, we are suddenly reminded of the past seasons' first picks, and in case you didn't know, here's what they're up to now!
Produce 101 Season 1: I.O.I - Jeon Somi
While she was competing in the show and active in I.O.I she was under JYP Entertainment but left the company in August 2018, before signing on with The Black Label (a subsidiary label of YG Entertainment headed by Teddy) the following month. I.O.I's center and maknae finally debuted as a soloist with the single “Birthday” and will have her first comeback soon after two years!
Produce 101 Season 2: Wanna One - Kang Daniel
Daniel started with MMO Entertainment when he was on the show, but established his own one-person agency KONNECT Entertainment on June 9, 2019. Shortly after, he debuted as a soloist with the single “What Are You Up To”. He has the Guinness Book record for the fastest time to reach 1 million followers on Instagram, and with the popularity he retains, he's constantly reminding us that he was the nation's #1 pick by releasing good albums again and again. His latest comeback was last month with the album REALIEZ and a music video for the title track "SOS" that seemed to look like it was a movie.
From Starship Entertainment, Wonyoung is currently a member of the girl group IVE, alongside Yujin. If you didn't follow the show when it aired, she was declared as the center and ranked first in the group on her 14th birthday. What a perfect birthday present. Wonyoung, who was IZ*ONE's maknae, is in charge of IVE‘s choreography. IVE's latest comeback was back in April, with the album I've Ive.
Prior to auditioning for the show, Yohan attended Seoul Physical Education High School and has been active in the sport for 13 years. He even received a scholarship because of Taekwondo but did not want to let his dreams of becoming an idol slip away, so he quit the sport and tried becoming an idol and is doing an excellent job at it. He recently had a comeback with his group WEi, "Overdrive," a fun a refreshing summer track! Aside from that, he was also the male lead in the drama “A Love So Beautiful” and “School 2021” and was an MC on ‘The Show.’
Produce 48's NUMBER 1 was Sakura, and nobody can't deny that!!
