Warner Music Korea has made an official statement regarding Attrakt's claim that they are the outside agency that attempted to "poach" FIFTY FIFTY.
The statement, which was released on June 26 KST, reads as follows:
"Hello, this is Warner Music Korea.
We are informing you about our official position regarding the claim made by Attrakt, the agency of rookie girl group FIFTY FIFTY, today (June 26).
First, Warner Music Korea is the overseas distributor of FIFTY FIFTY, and we have been operating as such since April 1, 2023. From the beginning of the contract period up until now, we have been doing our best to mobilize the capabilities and networks of Warner Music Group to make the brilliant achievements of FIFTY FIFTY and their agency shine even more, so it is very regrettable that unsavory suspicions have been raised.
Warner Music Korea respects the opinions of artists and their agencies, and as a global distributor, we have been doing our best to date, and we are proud that this has been proven with various achievements.
The claims made by Attrakt are unfounded, and we express our regret about the sending of a proof of content.
We earnestly ask you to refrain from spreading unconfirmed rumors and baseless speculative reports in the future.
Thank you."
Meanwhile, as previously reported, Attrakt's CEO Jeon Hong Joon claimed, "It seems that an outside agency and Warner Music Korea are related to the recent attempts made to poach the members of FIFTY FIFTY." He sent a proof of content to Warner Music Korea on the same day, and alleged that the outside agency had approached Warner Music Korea, making a proposal where they would have Attrackt sell their rights to FIFTY FIFTY. Attrackt representatives stated, "We have already found evidence that show clear attempts made to illegally rob us of the FIFTY FIFTY members. We ask Warner Music Korea to explain their position clearly."
I get where the ceo was coming from by making the issue public but it seems like it's starting to bring negative attention, also i feel like publicly antagonizing and accusing a label like Warner Bros without actually providing said proof is not a very smart move.
