On July 1 KST, Yuehua Entertainment announced the cancellation of a scheduled recording for MBC's 'Show! Music Core' due to Choi Ye Na's poor health condition.
The singer was scheduled to record an additional stage for next week's broadcast of 'Show! Music Core' this week; however, in light of the controversy surrounding her comeback title track "Hate Rodrigo", the solo musician has been facing significant criticism for the past few days.
In fact, immediately after the release of Choi Ye Na's "Hate Rodrigo" MV, the video was temporarily removed from YouTube due to suspected issues of portrait right infringement. The MV was then edited and re-uploaded approximately a day later, with photos of singer Olivia Rodrigo largely removed from the background.
The response from K-netizens continues to be unforgiving. Many commented,
"Cancel your entire comeback promotions."
"She actually planned to promote this song??"
"Just lay low for a while. It's for your own good."
"Unless she changes the title track to one of her other songs on the album, it's just not happening."
"Her image is getting worse and worse. They should be trying to figure out how to make people forget about this as soon as possible."
"Whatever kind of attention they were hoping to gain from this, it will never go the way they planned."
"Pretend that the song doesn't exist before her existence is erased from the K-Pop industry."
"This company is literally trying to bring its own artist down as low as possible. Where is the apology?"
"What is keeping them from giving a simple apology? Pride is saving no one."
"She participated in writing the song and the lyrics, right? Running away saying you have 'health issues' is just cowardly."
"I didn't take Ye Na to be this kind of person at all... I'm just so disappointed."
It's believed that Choi Ye Na will still appear on all remaining music shows for this weekend with her "Hate Rodrigo" comeback stage.
I honestly think people are clutching their pearls with this controversy, if you can even call it that. After listening to the song she obviously wasnt trying to be shady towards Olivia, it was definitely an homage. The only reason it got taken down was copyrighted images, which does happen every once in awhile. I think people are entertained by celebrities losing their fame cause they can act all high and mighty, which is ironic because they often essentially cyber bully them in return. Oh but it doesn't count cause celebrities arent viewed as real people.
