On June 22, scriptwriter Kim Eun Hee and film director Jang Hang Jun appeared as a guests on Yoo Jae Suk's YouTube show 'Just An Excuse'.
The scriptwriter was asked to discuss her new drama project, the mystery thriller 'Revenant' starring Kim Tae Ri, and share behind stories from her time working on the script. Kim Eun Hee went on to describe the scariest place that she visited while out doing research with her crew in the countryside.
"There was one time when we participated in a village ritual in a village near the ocean. The ritual took place at night, when it was so dark that you could not see anything except for the few lights there were. And you were surrounded by the sounds of the people participating in the ritual. After the ritual, the village chairman told us, 'From this moment on, you cannot look behind you no matter what. If you look behind you, evil spirits will attach themselves to you.' So we had to find our way back, and it was so dark that we could not see, but I remember none of us looked back. Even when someone would call out, 'Director', to ask a question, he would not look back, but answer while looking at the ground in front of him (laughter)."
While laughing at the recollection, the scriptwriter added on that aspects of that experience was incorporated into the story of 'Revenant'.
Meanwhile, Kim Eun Hee shared another ghost story that she had heard from a co-worker among the filming staff.
"This is a story I heard from a close co-worker of mine. Sometimes, when the staff visit a rural location for filming, they will stay at a shabby inn. She was a part of the costume team, and she was rooming with another co-worker. They went to sleep, and she noticed that the co-worker, who was not known for being touchy with others, kept snuggling up to her. So she wondered, 'Why is this person suddenly so close to me?'. Then, and she couldn't tell if this was a dream or not, but she saw a colorful quilt in front of her. And the quilt was spread out and held up in the air, with a pair of hands holding it up on both sides. So she was frightened, and roused herself from her sleep. The person next to her had seen the same thing, it turned out, and that was why she had grabbed onto the staff, out of fear. Later on, they found out that there was a murder at that inn long ago, where a man suffocated a woman underneath a blanket."

it's interesting to see how the staff also go to such lengths to contribute to the final film and add that realism (?) you gotta give it to them. i would never be able to stay in a creepy place like that even if it was part of my job lmao. excited to watch this drama when it comes out!!
