The verdict is out on the current most popular K-Pop idol groups among elementary schoolers, at least based on the following evidence(?)!
Those of you familiar with Korean culture will know that stationary stores are typically located close to most grade schools in each neighborhood. They supply not only school supplies, but all kinds of gifts, trinkets, and even K-Pop merchandise!
One way of finding out which K-Pop groups are the most popular among elementary schoolers, one of the major the target consumers at these stationary stores, is to visit and see which idol groups can be found in the "capsule machines".
Outside of capsule machines, there are also "unofficial" goods and accessories like photocards and keyrings, small and portable goods that students can buy on their way to school and trade with friends throughout the day.
And it looks like the most popular stationary store goods you can find in Korea these days are ones featuring IVE and TOMORROW x TOGETHER!
Many netizens couldn't help but agree that this is a certain method of determining the most popular idol groups for the current generation of elementary schoolers, and commented,
"The capsule machines don't lie kekekekeke. But seriously, why do they look the same as they did like 10~20 years ago, with only the photos of the idols switched out????"
"I saw a bunch of little kids listening to IVE on the playground the other day kekekeke."
"There were so many young kids at TXT's concert too!"
"I swear those are the same capsule machines that used to have Super Junior and F.T. Island lol."
"The elementary school girls all think of Wonyoung as a real life princess kekekekeke."
"The streets outside the TXT concert is literally like after school pick up kekekekeke. So many parents."
"Those cheap stationary store goods... so nostalgic..."
"All the elementary school kids know all the words to IVE songs."
"My little cousins all collect IVE kekekeke."
"I've seen these at the neighborhood mart kekekeke."
"Why don't they ever change the font on those capsule machines though kekekekeke."
I actually have heard a few times just how popular TXT are with young Koreans, Even from a few Korean celebrities with young family members
