Throughout the years, K-dramas have captivated global audiences, ranging from instant-love romances to adrenaline-fueled thrillers. Once you're immersed in the K-drama universe, it's virtually impossible to escape its gravitational pull. Intriguingly, in every hit drama, there's always an element - be it a plushie, a keychain, or a specific line - that commands the attention of viewers. In Korean, these unforgettable moments are known as 'myung daesah,' which translates to iconic lines from films or dramas. Now, let's take a trip down memory lane and revisit ten of the most legendary K-drama catchphrases. Can you recall which dramas they originate from?
1. "Bbuing Bbung": If you're trying to get anything, try the 'bbuing bbuing' technique. At least that's what worked for Soo Jung throughout the entire series of "High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged." The key point is to make it as cute and cringey as possible.
2. "Since what age were you this pretty ?": Numerous celebrities ended up creating a parody of this iconic scene, coming in directly for her heart Kim Joo Won isn't afraid to be up front about his feelings for Gil Ra Im.
3. "Bbanggu Ddonggu": You don't want to get on the wrong side of little sisters; they'll give you so much sass, especially Jung Hae Ri. If she doesn't like someone, she'll give you the honorary title of 'bbanggu ddonggu' which translates to 'fart butt.' Who would've known that this would actually become an iconic line within the series?
4. "Ddoing ddoing": If you're not on the "Dr.Romantic 3" bandwagon, you need to get on it right now. After a rough time at work, to encourage his spirits, Dr. Eunjae cutely asks Seo Woo Jin to open the bottle of tomato juice she's brought for him. But lo and behold, "ddoing ddoing" becomes somewhat of an endearment for Seo Woo Jin.
5. "Love returns": People say that love can get you through some of the most challenging times, and it is beautifully exemplified in "Stairway to Heaven." Having an optimistic view of their relationship despite everything happening around them, Cha Song Joo promises that love always returns. The critical point here, making sure that you throw a boomerang as you say the line.
6. "Do you like Messi? ": If you're unsure where your crush's feelings lie, then try to go for the line "Do you like Messi?" and let's hope that you don't run into the same embarrassment as Kim Bok Joo from "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo."
7. "That man is my lover, why can't you say that?!": It's always the older dramas that really strike you in the heart, and this line definitely did that. Frustrated at how she was acting, Han Ki Joo can't comprehend why Kang Tae Yong cannot admit that he is her lover.
8. “I like you. Whether you’re a man or an alien, I don’t care anymore.”: At odds with himself, Choi Han Kyul decides it's time to let his heart lead, giving one of the sweetest and heartfelt confessions ever seen in a K-drama.
9. "Disgusting sh*t": Such a short line, but with such impact, you can't help but laugh at Lee Min Ho's disgusted face and tone with this line from " The Legend of the Blue Sea."
10. "You know I have no chingu": Probably one of the most relatable lines ever from "The Business Proposal." Surely adult life is a lonely one, but we always need someone to be able to vent to once in a while, don't we?
It's fascinating to see how people are able to just hear one single line and immediately connect it a certain drama, don't you think? Wonder what kind of 'myung daesah' will stick out with the upcoming dramas this year.
"Do you like Messi?" and "Disgusting sHaT" always have a place in my heart.
But i would also like to add "Gwenchana Gwenchana".
